Safety isolating transformer

With InduComp safety isolating transformers, you receive a high-quality product tailored to your company’s needs. We are flexible with our clients, undertaking the production of products from small quantities to larger volumes. We have extensive experience in designing and manufacturing custom safety isolation transformers that always meet the expected technical parameters.

Characteristics of Safety Isolating Transformers

The no-load voltage of safety transformers is limited to 50 Vac. This is one of the main differences compared to isolation transformers. For protection against electric shock, the secondary windings are generally galvanically isolated from the primary windings with double or reinforced insulation. This helps classify electrical devices according to protection class II.

Industrial usability

Safety transformers can be used in many sectors where electrical safety and the separation of protective grounding are important. These include healthcare, research and development laboratories, and industries where the working environment is high in humidity or dust, which can increase the risk of electrical accidents.

Manufacturing of Safety Isolating Transformers

As a supplement to part 1 of standard 61558 (formerly VDE 0551), the following part 2 applies to safety transformers:

– EN 61558-2-6:2009 and EN 61558-2-6:2021

– IEC 61558-2-6

The safety of transformers, inductors, power supplies, and similar products with supply voltages up to 1100 V. Part 2-6: Particular requirements and tests for safety isolation transformers and power supply units incorporating safety isolation transformers.

The no-load output voltage must not exceed 50 Vac or 120 V ripple-free DC. The rated output power of single-phase safety transformers is limited to 10 kVA.
